December - 12 Days of Christmas

12 Days of Christmas, 12 Days in Vietnam! I spent the holidays this year in southeast Asia, where the Buddha is worshiped, and Jesus is celebrated. I can see it now: Tourists posing by the blow-up Santas and snowmen, with wide smiles and peace-sign gestures, Christmas carols in the background. It was strange, and amusing, and lovely. The Vietnamese embrace change and Western ways with a grounded perspective and ease that is to be desired. Their lifestyle, unlike our privileged on here, is acutely centered on the circles in life, living and dying, and the connection with nature. I hope to take these gifts that I was given while on my trip and embrace my challenges and experiences in 2012 as the Vietnamese do. Signing off from the Dirrty Dozen, A~
